MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Ten police officers were killed and 28 others wounded in a counter-terrorism operation in Chechnya’s capital Grozny as they prevented massive terrorist attacks at the expense of their lives, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said on Thursday.

“As a result of an exact and coordinated effort by the law enforcement officers, several gunmen were swiftly located and neutralized, allowing to complete the liquidation of major gang members, as well as to prevent massive terrorist attacks and save the lives of peaceful citizens,” the committee said.

“During the operation, ten staff members of territorial police bodies and 28 others were wounded as they showed a self-sacrificing attitude while fulfilling their duties,” it said.
