SOFIA, January 27. /TASS/. "The Philipp Kirkorov Investment" company owned by prominent Russian pop singer Philipp Kirkorov, has been accused of violating taxat legislation in Bulgaria. An investigation has been opened against an unnamed person suspected of a taxation crime committed by the Philipp Kirkorov Investment company, spokesman for the Varna regional Prosecutor's Office Radoslav Lazarev told TASS on Tuesday.

"No investigation was opened against Kirkorov himself," the spokesman said. "Usually, it takes around two months to investigate such a crime, but the term of the investigation might be lengthened," he said.

Earlier, Stiliyan Ivanov, who heads the Combating Corruprtion foundation, told Blitz news agency that he had informed the prosecutor's office about violations the prominent singer made when his company made real estate deals, which was a pretext to open an investigation.

In 2013, the Russian singer of Bulgarian descent, Philipp Kirkorov, won a lawsuit opened on charges of illegal sale of privately owned housing and regained the right to ownership of two de luxe class apartments, estimated at several million euros, at the Port Palace complex in Varna.

A scandal over the illegal sale of the apartments broke out in 2010 when Philipp Kirkorov's uncle was taken by surprise to find out that the apartments had been sold. After an investigation which continued for three years the court acknowledged the fact that the documents, used for the deal carried out by Kirkorov's former business partner Plamen Majarov, were fake. The court annulled the deal.
