No comment from Russia’s Kalashnikov group on plans of RWC to manufacture rifles in US

According to the CNN version, the RWC, which is the official importer and distributor of the Kalashnikov rifles in the US, had to stop importing them after the US imposed sanctions against Russia

Russian weaponry manufacturing corporation Kalashnikov has refrained from comments on the situation around the plans of the US-based Russian Weapon Company to begin manufacturing of thee world-famous Kalashnikov automatic assault rifles in the US, TASS was told by an official at the Kalashnikov press service on Wednesday.

“We don’t comment on this situation and those who need details are welcome to address the RWC,” he said.

A story on the RWC’s plans was revealed earlier on the same day by the CNN a report saying that the “[…] gun company had found a way around the anti-Russian sanctions that have banned the imports of the Kalashnikov assault rifles.” According to the report, the clue to the situation was “Make them here, the USA.”.

The story said the guns manufactured in America would have the same name as the original: AK-47.

“RWC, based in Tullytown, Pennsylvania, has the rights to the AK-47 Kalashnikov brand of guns,” the report said.
