Units of Ukraine’s National Guard deployed in Odessa for ensuring security

ODESSA, January 3. /TASS/. Units of Ukraine’s National Guard have arrived in the city of Odessa for ensuring security in the Black Sea port, General Ivan Katerinchuk, chief of the regional police, said on Saturday.

“Over the past month alone, five terrorist attacks hit the city, with the latest one claiming a human life,” Katerinchuk explained adding that in line with the operation “suspicious persons will be stopped and checked, including inspection of personal belongings.”

In early December several blasts rocked the city, one of them hit an office building in the city centre.

On December 24, an explosion occurred at an Odessa railways station during a train movement.

On December 26, a powerful blast went off on the city’s outskirts, killing a man and smashing out the windows in the houses nearby.
