Belarus former prime minister to lead upper house of parliament

MINSK, December 26. /TASS/. Former Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich will become speaker of the upper house of the country’s parliament [the Council of the Republic at the National Assembly], the national television said on Saturday.

Myasnikovich, who was prime minister from 2010 to 2014, is to replace Speaker Anatoly Rubinov, who has occupied the position since May 2010.

Along with this, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko approved former Governor of the National Bank Nadezhda Yermakova and former Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Prokopovich as presidents of the boards of the banks BelVEB and BPS-Sberbank respectively.
