MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. The Syria Strategic Response Plan (SRP) in 2015 will demand $8.4 billion in funds to help victims of the Syrian conflict, Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

The plan adopted at a Syria donors’ conference in Berlin in December 18, consists of two major parts: support for more than 12 million conflict-affected people inside Syria and assistance to over 3 million refugees.

“It is important that the plan has been approved by the Syrian government, which did not however attend the Berlin conference,” the diplomat stressed, adding that active coordination with Syria’s authorities was needed to make the international humanitarian effort in the country most efficient.

“Russia will continue humanitarian assistance to the country on a regular basis both via bilateral channels and via various humanitarian international organizations,” the diplomat said.

The unrest in Syria, which began in the early spring of 2011, has so far killed nearly 200,000 people and injured one million, according to the United Nations figures.
