Sooner or later Ukraine will join EU, NATO - Polish defence minister

“We will see a time when Ukraine is in NATO and the European Union. Ukraine must comply with standards and Ukrainian society must support NATO membership,” he told the local ZET radio station

WARSAW, December 23. /TASS/. Sooner or later Ukraine is bound to become a member of the European Union and NATO, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Tomasz Siemoniak said on Tuesday, commenting on Ukraine’s renouncing its off-bloc status.

“We will see a time when Ukraine is in NATO and the European Union. Ukraine must comply with standards and Ukrainian society must support NATO membership,” he told the local ZET radio station.

He said he did not think Ukraine’s decision to renounce its off-bloc status might worsen the relations between that country and the West with Russia, since they “couldn’t be worse”.
