Next round of talks of six world powers and Iran scheduled for mid-January

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The next round of talks of the Group of Six (Five permanent UN members and Germany) and Iran will be held in mid-January 2015, a source from the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The talks focused on a concrete discussion of the situation and a schedule of further meetings in the format "Group of Six-Iran" to be held at different levels. Participants drew particular attention to the key aspects of the future agreement on final settlement of the situation in respect to the Iranian nuclear program, the Russian foreign ministry said.

A previous round of talks on the Iranian nuclear program was held in Geneva on December 17. Russia was represented at the Geneva talks by Deputy foreign minister Sergey Ryabkov. It was agreed that the next round of the talks will be held in mid-January, the foreign ministry said. On the sidelines of the talks Russian Deputy foreign minister Sergey Ryabkov met his Iranian counterparts Abbas Aragchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy head of the European foreign policy department Helga Schmid, Acting US Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and a department director for control of weapons of China.
