MINSK, November 21. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko plans to work as a teacher after concluding his political career.

“When I conclude my career, if I am healthy, I will go to work as a teacher, and I will teach with pleasure,” he told a seminar at Belarusian State Pedagogical University on Friday.

The president said the best for him would be the position of a university rector, but he would also agree to teach students.

Lukashenko said it was necessary to enhance the prestige of the teacher profession in the Belarusian society.

“It cannot be solved only by a salary. Many factors influence it. The status of a mentor is inadmissibly low at present. Modern culture also plays its role,” he said.

In Soviet times, there were many wonderful books and films about school teachers, but at present, writers, playwrights and film directors present other characters. But it forms a public opinion not in favor of a teacher, Lukashenko said.
