PRETORIA, October 27. /TASS/. South Africa national team captain and goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was shot by an unknown person 20 kilometers off Johannesburg, local media informs with a reference to a law enforcement agency representative.

Meyiwa, 27, had been taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

South African police announced a reward for any assistance in capturing those responsible.

As South African police posted on Twitter, they wanted to assure citizens that the police would make great effort to catch the killer who shot Senzo Meyiwa. They also announced 150,000 of rands (about $13,000) in a reward for any information that may help to catch perpetrators.

Senzo Meyiwa is known for being a goalkeeper for South African football club, Orlando Pirates. He also was the South Africa national team captain in the last Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
