Putin congratulates biathlete Polukhin on silver in Sochi Paralympics

MOSCOW, March 08 /ITAR-TASS/. President Vladimir Putin congratulated biathlete Nikolai Polukhin on his silver medal won in men’s 7.5 km race for visually impaired athletes on Saturday, March 8.

“You represented our country with honour, outran many strong competitors and brought another medal to the national team,” Putin said in his telegram to the athlete. “I am confident that you will continue to aspire for success, outstanding achievements and new heights,” the president said.

Polukhin was second with 20 minutes 29.8 seconds and one missed target. Ukrainian biathlete Vitaly Lukyanenko took gold, Vasily Shaptsiaboi of Belarus won bronze.
