Olympics’ press center and Mountain Cluster’s media center open in Sochi

Leading 43 international media will have offices at an area of over 3,600 square meters

SOCHI, January 24. /ITAR-TASS/. The Main Press Center of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi will open on Friday. The Gorki media center in the Games’ Mountain Cluster is due to open the same day.

On January 24, the Maid Media Center in the Olympic Park begins working 24/7.

The main media centre, which area is over 158,000 square meters, includes the Main Press Centre of 20,000 square meters and the International Broadcast Centre of 60,000 square meters.

“The Main Media Center along with a three-star hotel for the media’s accommodation occupies the area of about 20 hectares,” the Games’ organizers say.

Leading 43 international media will have offices at an area of over 3,600 square meters.

Organizers say about 18 meetings a day will be arranged there. Press conferences will be translated into eight languages: Russian, English, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

“The Main Media Center offers all conditions for comfortable work of the media, television and radio companies. The unique building is at a walking distance from all the facilities of the Olympic Park,” Sochi-2014’s president Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

From January 7, the Main Press Center worked from 8 am to 11 pm, and between January 24 and February 26 it will be open round the clock, and between February 25 and 26 — from 8 am to 10 pm. Television and radio staff have a permanent access to the International Broadcast Center.

All the sports Olympic facilities in the Coastal and Mountain Clusters during the Games, which are due to open in Sochi on February 7, will offer their own press centers.
