BRUSSELS, January 29. /TASS/. Strategic partnership between Russia and the European Union is a practical necessity for both sides, Russia’s Permanent Representative at the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said on Thursday.
"I think strategic partnership [between Russia and the European Union] is not a mere theoretical possibility but rather a practical necessity for both sides," he said at a meeting of the Europan Parliament’s delegation for relations with Russia.
"Whatever might happen in our relations at any time in history, Russia and countries of the European Union will always be linked by geography, common history, supplementing economies and, of course, common responsibility for peace and security on our continent," the Russian diplomat noted. "Russia and the European Union will win much from closer cooperation.".
