MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. Russia, if it quits the Council of Europe will also cease to be a member of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov told reporters on Thursday.
However, he withheld comment on his attitude to Russia’s possible withdrawal from the Council of Europe.
"Of course, quitting the Council of Europe means the termination of the ECHR competence," he said, answering journalists’ questions.
Konovalov also said that the cases that are filed during the country's membership in the related convention would continue to be considered.
