MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Moscow hopes that the work of the 5+2 format on the Transdniestrian settlement will resume soon, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said on Friday.
“Now much depends on the new Moldovan government. The talks continue there. The coalition has not been created yet, we watch this,” Karasin said at the State Duma.
“It is natural that all problems concerning relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol are within eyeshot,” he said.
Transdniestria “is our partner and we’ve signed a series of inter-departmental agreements on which we make practical contribution to ensuring stabilisation in many spheres of life in Transdniestria,” Karasin said.
“But as for the Transdniestrian settlement, on which we take part in the 5+2 and other formats, we believe that being our partner, Transdniestria should be a special area with special guarantees within the united Moldovan state,” he said.
“We hope that the 5+2 format will resume soon. There was a small pause in the work of our representatives. But one can notice prospects for further promotion towards reaching mutual understanding between Transdniestria and Chisinau,” Karasin said.
“Much depends on the development of political processes in Moldova,” he added.
