Lavrov calls for all-embracing approach to problems existing in Russia-EU relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also said it was necessary to launch an inclusive process of constitutional reform in Ukraine

MOSCOW, January 13 /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held his traditional meeting with the ambassadors of 28 EU countries and the head of the EU delegation to Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“Having noted Russia’s ongoing determination to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union, Lavrov called the ambassadors’ attention to the need of taking an all-embracing approach to the solution of problems existing in the Russia-EU interaction in the political and economic spheres which have seriously aggravated against the background of the Ukraine crisis,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.

Lavrov said it was necessary to launch an inclusive process of constitutional reform in Ukraine. “The minister placed particular emphasis on the task of observing a ceasefire regime, alleviating the consequences of humanitarian disaster in south-east Ukraine and putting an end to discrimination of the rights of separate groups of population in the Ukrainian society,” the Russian Foreign Ministry went on to say.

Lavrov and the EU ambassadors also discussed other pressing issues on the international agenda.
