MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. The prosecutor’s office appealed the guilty verdict pronounced to brothers Oleg and Alexey Navalnys in a massive fraud case at cosmetics company Yves Rocher.
“The public prosecutor asked to change charges brought against both defendants and review the sentence to Aleksey Navalny as too lenient,” a source in law enforcement agencies told TASS.
On December 30, 2014, Moscow district court handed down a guilty verdict on the Navalny brothers in a massive fraud case in cosmetics company Yves Rocher. Opposition activist Alexey Navalny was sentenced to 3.5 years in suspension, his brother Oleg was imprisoned for 3.5 years. Meanwhile, the court levied more than four million rubles ($63.7 thousand) from the Navalnys under a lawsuit filed by affected Multi-Profile Processing Company and fined 500,000 rubles ($7.9 thousand) each of them.

Meanwhile, the court has softened charges brought against the Navalnys, finding them guilty of a massive fraud in business activity and money laundering.
The public prosecutor asked to cancel the verdict due to its softness. Lawyers and the very defendants also find the verdict illegal and demand Navalnys’ acquittal. The specific petition was also lodged with the Moscow district court.
