MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. The members of the Russian government will not have long New Year holidays, Russia's President Putin declared at a meeting with the Cabinet on Thursday.

"The holidays are due soon and they continue for rather a long time here; people ought to have some rest: we have a rather long, depressive autumn-winter period, and the people need holidays," Putin said. "Nevertheless, we cannot afford such long holidays either for the government or its structures this year at least," Putin said.

Putin reminded of regular conferences he has with the Cabinet, adding that some of such conferences are not covered by the press, including the one he had with the economic bloc of the government two days ago. Another conference will be held soon," Putin said.

The president has assessed the work of the Cabinet in the outgoing year as "quite satisfactory and in line with the present-day needs" and expressed hope that the Cabinet would work as well in future.

The president wished Happy New Year to his colleagues and thanked them for joint work.
