“The number of space rocket launches in 2015 will increase by 1.5 times," Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said

MOSCOW, December 23. /TASS/. The number of space rockets launches will increase 1.5-fold next year, allowing to renew the orbit group by one fourth, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday.

“The number of space rocket launches in 2015 will increase by 1.5 times, and this will allow to renew the orbit group by 25%,” Shoigu said during a video conference with President Vladimir Putin.

The minister said that the program for launching military spacecraft in 2014 has been fully implemented and “a total of nine launches of space rockets have been conducted.”

“This has allowed boosting the capacity of orbit groups and also completing the first stage of flight tests of the Angara space and rocket complex,” Shoigu explained.

A new Russian heavy rocket was successfully test-launched from the Plesetsk space center on Tuesday as planned at 08:57 Moscow time (0557 GMT). President Vladimir Putin participated in the launch ceremony via a video link.
