Russia fines Google $1.6 thousand for casino advertisement

Earlier in December, the antitrust said that it had found illegal advertisements of online casinos, which were placed on the Google search engine

MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has imposed a $1.6 thousand fine on Google for the advertisements of gambling, the watchdog said Monday in a statement.

The fine was levied on “the distribution of gambling, their organizers and related services in the Google search engine on the territory of the Russian Federation”.

Earlier in December, the antitrust said that it had found illegal advertisements of online casinos, which were placed on the Google search engine. The regulator has ordered the U.S.’ Google and its Russia-registered branch to curb down violations of the law on advertisements.

The service also opened an administrative case against Google. The watchdog received a claim against advertisements of online casinos from a citizen earlier in 2014.
