Humanitarian cargo with New Year gifts to Donbass' children reaches Russia-Ukraine border

ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 19. /TASS/. Russia’s humanitarian convoy of six trucks with New Year present for children in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR, respectively) has arrived at the Donetsk border checkpoint on the Russian border, an officer on duty of the humanitarian convoy Sergei Basov told TASS late on Friday.

“We have reached the checkpoint perfectly well. Originally, we planned to get here at 18:30 Moscow time, but on the approaches to the town of Pavlovsk in the Voronezh region we got stuck in a traffic jam because of repair works,” he said, adding that this delay had no impact of the future schedule. After the six truck cross the border with Ukraine, three of them will head for Donetsk and the other three - for Lugansk.

It is expected that the humanitarian cargo will reach the destination by Saturday. The New Year gifts will be handed over to children in these cities on Sunday, December 21.

The humanitarian action was organized by the Donbass community fund, which regularly offers assistance to their compatriots in Donetsk and Luhansk, and also in Ukraine’s Kharkov, Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
