Around 5,000 cubic meters of water pumped from a flooded Uralkali mine in Russia

PERM, November 21. /TASS/. Five thousand cubic meters of water have been pumped from the flooded Solikamsk-2 mine that belongs to the Uralkali company. The groundwater inflow has weakened, the city administration said.

On November 18 the staff of the mine detected a giant sinkhole 20 to 30 meters of size 3.5 kilometers from the mine.

For reasons of safety the potash mining was temporary stopped, the inflow of groundwater is monitored.

Uralkali is a world leading in production of potassium. The company’s assets include five mines and seven enrichment plants, located in Berezniki and Solikamsk (the Perm Territory).
