Flags of Crimea and of Sevastopol to be hung in Federation Council on March 24

MOSCOW, March 18, 23:35 /ITAR-TASS/. Flags of Crimea and of Sevastopol will be hung on the premises of the Federation Council on Monday, March 24, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said on Tuesday at the meeting with a delegation of Crimea and Sevastopol.

“Two more flags will be added to a row of flags [on the ground floor of the Federation Council premises] on Monday,” Matviyenko said.

Flags of all entities of the Russian Federation are hung on the ground floor of the building in which the Federation Council is located.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov and Mayor of Sevastopol Aleksei Chaly signed the treaty in accordance with which the Republic of Crimea is accepted to the Russian Federation. The document says the new entities - the Republic of Crimea and the city of federal importance Sevastopol - are formed within the Russian Federation since the day the Republic of Crimea is accepted to the Russian Federation.

Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said earlier that Russian parliament might start immediately discussing Crimea’s and Sevastopol’s joining Russia. “I believe all the legal procedures may be completed by weekend,” Matviyenko stressed.
