MOSCOW, March 14. /ITAR-TASS/. The Kremlin’s press service has confirmed that the official website of the Russian president became target of a cyber attack. The representatives said that specialists are currently taking all necessary measures to ensure that all users can access the resource.

“Indeed, the case in hand is a major DDoS-attack aimed not only at the Kremlin's site, but also on some other web portals,” the press service told Itar-Tass, adding that this is the most powerful attempt to destabilize the resource’s operation.

“All measures are taken to fully restore the website’s performance,” the press service stated. “At present, the website is available for the majority of users.”

In addition, specialists are establishing the source of the cyber attack.

On Friday, the press service of Russia’s Central Bank confirmed the fact of a cyber attack on the official website of the country’s main financial watchdog.

“The site of the central bank is currently experiencing problems due to a hacker attack. The central bank is undertaking measures for countering the attack and restoring normal mode of operations,” the press service said.

In addition, on Thursday, one of the biggest Russian TV outlets, Channel One, confirmed that its website also fell under a cyber attack.

The channel’s site was unavailable between midday and 1pm Moscow time (GMT+4) from Kiev, the press office reported. The channel earlier supposed the resource might have been attacked by the hacker group Anonymous Caucasus as report of the attack came out on its account on Twitter. The same group released data about attacks on the Syrian Government’s sites and Lifenews.ru media which was put out on February 20, 2014.

In DDoS (Distributed denial-of-service) attack, multiple systems mainly contaminated with viruses flood the attacked resource with requests and thus make it unavailable.
