Russia prepared to work within IMF to encourage Ukraine to launch economic reforms — Putin

NOVO-OGAREVO, March 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia is prepared to work jointly with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to encourage Ukraine to launch economic reforms, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his countryside residence on Tuesday.

In reply to the question whether Russia will continue to give aid to the neighboring country under the previous agreement on purchase of Ukrainian Eurobonds worth $15 billion he said that Russia “was basically prepared to allocate additional tranches.”

“But Western countries ask not to do this,” the president noted. “They ask us to work jointly with the IMF in order to encourage Ukraine to launch reforms,” he said.

“We intend to work further in this vein,” the Russian president added.
