Government to make 23-million-ruble aid tranche from reserve fund for Volgograd victims

MOSCOW, October 25. (ITAR - TASS). — The Russian government will allocate from the reserve fund 23 million rubles to pay compensations to victims of the terrorist attack in Volgograd. This was announced today by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting of the Cabinet.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the attack's victims. "October 21, a terrorist act was committed, 6 people were killed and dozens injured, including children," Medvedev said. "I would like to bring deep condolences to the families and friends of those whose lives were cut short as a result of a monstrous crime".

A meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Dmitry Medvedev discussed a corresponding draft resolution on Friday.

The document says that family members (spouses), children, parents and persons who were the killed citizens’ dependants will receive one million roubles for one deceased in equal shares to each family member. In addition, the federal government will provide to the relatives of the terror act victims a lump-sum allowance for burial in the amount of 18 thousand roubles.

The injured in the terrorist attack will get compensation, depending on the severity of the injuries - 400 thousand rubles for severe and average injuries and 200 thousand roubles per person for light injuries.

To this end, a total of up to 22.8 million rubles will be allocated to the Volgograd region from the reserve fund of the government for the prevention and elimination of emergencies and natural disasters.

Six people were killed and 41 people got injuries of varying degrees of severity (30 people - severe and medium, and 11 - light injuries) in a terrorist attack in Volgograd on October 21.
