Siberian historians to send ancient armor replica to Putin

NOVOSIBIRSK, December 17. /TASS/. Historians at the Novosibirsk State University announced plans to Wednesday to send a replica of the 8th century AD armor as a gift to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The 23-kilogram armor suit consists of a cuirasse, shoulder pads, helmet, sword and belt decorated with some 50 silver plates.

"I think the suit will be delivered to Moscow by the end of this week or early next week," Leonid Bobrov, one of the replica's creators, told TASS.

He said the suit was a replica of the unique armor which belonged to a warrior of the Turkic khaganate, an ancient state that existed in Central Asia. The original armor suit found in a burial mound is kept at one of the Siberian museums.
