MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. Migrant outflow from Russia on the backdrop of the current crisis and the ruble devaluation will not be critical for the Russian economy, Russian Minister of Labour and Social Protection Maxim Topilin said on Friday.
"Many foreign workers have left Russia. Russia’s Federal Migration Service said the number of migrants halved after the New Year holidays," he said. "It will not be critical for the economy."
According to the Federal Migration Service, the number of migrants who have entered Russia since the year beginning is by 70% less than in the same period last year. Only 23% of migrants said they were coming to Russia to work. The number of migrants in Russia is decreasing due to economic troubles and Russia’s toughening migration laws, the chief of the service, Konstantin Romodanovsky, said earlier. He noted that the situation with migrants would become clearer within a couple of months.
