Russian grain exports not to exceed 28 million tons this year — deputy PM

This is below the figures forecasted by Russia’s Agriculture Ministry (27.5-30 million tons) and Economic Development Ministry (32 million tons)

DAVOS, January 23. /TASS/. Russia will export 28 million tons of grain in 2014-2015 harvest year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told TASS. This is below the figures forecasted by Russia’s Agriculture Ministry (27.5-30 million tons) and Economic Development Ministry (32 million tons).

“Our export potential this year (July 1, 2014 - Jul 1, 2105 harvest season) totals 28 million tons, while so far Russia has exported just around 22 million tones,” Dvorkovich said when answering a question on the tendencies for Russian grain export ahead of export duty introduction by February 1.

“Before February1, the companies did not have any opportunity to export all grain because we took administrative measures to limit exports,” Deputy PM said. “As as result, even if there is no duty export in January will total 1 million tons, just like it was going to be assuming 28 million tons by year-end,” Dvorkovich explained.

“We do not need to fully close exports,” he added.
