Gazprom cuts natural gas supplies to Ukraine by 1.8 times in 2014 — Naftogaz

KIEV, January 15. /TASS/. Russia’s natural gas giant Gazprom cut gas supplies to Ukraine by 1.8 times in 2014 to 14.5 billion cubic meters, Ukraine’s national oil and gas company Naftogaz said in a statement on Thursday.

In 2013, Russia supplied 25.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Ukraine.

In fact, Ukraine has cut direct gas purchases from Russia by 11.3 billion cubic meters, while the gas supplies from Europe to Ukraine have increased only by 2.9 billion cubic meters. That is, Ukraine’s total gas purchases have decreased by 8.4 billion cubic meters.

In late December 2014, Gazprom received $150 million as Ukraine’s Naftogaz advance payment for Russian gas supplies in January 2015, Gazprom told TASS previously. The Russian energy major failed to name the exact gas amount for the Ukrainian company in January, because the amount remaining from December prepayment should be specified and the price should be calculated according to the formula. Russian gas price for Ukraine was to be reduced from $378 per 1,000 cubic meters to $365 in the first quarter.
