Export duty on grain to be effective from February until mid-2015 — Russian deputy PM

The date is still being discussed and will be announced in the following days, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich says

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. The government is expected to decide whether it should impose duties on grain exports from February till mid-2015 in the next three days, Russian Vice-Premier Arkady Dvorkovich said in an interview aired by the Rossiya 24 TV news channel on Thursday.

“We are discussing a concrete date in February when we can introduce it (the export duty),” Dvorkovich said.

“Apart from economic measures and duties, we will also apply administrative measures to grain,” Dvorkovich stressed adding that this work would consist in checking elevators and vehicles which could take out grain illegally.

The vice-premier said that the administrative measures were already in effect and grain was being exported in minimal volumes. He also explained that the government’s task was to prevent excessive grain exports.
