Government to take counsel with business making significant economic decisions

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russia’s government should continue taking counsel with business while making significant economic decisions in the same way it has been doing so far, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with big businesses on Friday.

“You know that in recent years we have not made any significant decisions which affect in this or the other way the conditions of Russia’s economy without consulting business environment,” Putin said. “I hope the government will continue this work in the future.”

Putin said that “today’s meeting is extremely needed, taking into consideration external circumstances, first of all on the international markets and on the hydrocarbon markets that have a large impact on our economy, and also the situation in our economy and finance, the condition of our national currency.”

Putin said he had asked Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and Central Bank head Elvira Nabiullina to attend the meeting.

“If necessity and determination appear, we are at your disposal on the issues that are arousing particular interest at the moment,” Putin addressed the business people.

The Russian president said that on the whole he addressed the government in his annual state of the nation address on December 4 and partially in his annual end-of-year news conference.
