MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Russia’s Rospotrebnadzor sanitary and consumer rights agency has banned the sale of more than 500 batches of wine, including more than 200 batches of imported wine totaling 3,000 liters after recent checks in which about 7,000 wine samples were tested.

According to the consumer rights watchdog, the share of counterfeit wine is three times higher in imported products.

“The number of samples failing to meet regulations is three times higher among imported products than among Russian ones, making up 6.1% of the total amount of the examined samples,” Rospotrebnadzor said in a report.

About 2,500 samples of imported wine and about 4,500 samples of Russian-made wine were tested.
