Offshore amnesty good chance for unlegalized capital owners — Kremlin spokesman

The presidential spokesman said in comments on Putin’s proposal that the issue of capital amnesty would be included in the list of the president’s instructions for the government

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Offshore capital amnesty proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin will offer a good chance for owners of unlegalized capital in Russia, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

In his state of the nation address on Thursday, Putin proposed an all-out amnesty for offshore capital, if money returned to the country.

“I propose carrying out full amnesty of capital returning to Russia, precisely an all-out amnesty,” Putin said.

The presidential spokesman said in comments on Putin’s proposal that the issue of capital amnesty would be included in the list of the president’s instructions for the government.

“I’m also convinced that the modalities of this amnesty will become known shortly,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Offshore capital amnesty will be held only once in Russia, Peskov said.

“This is a very rare but a very good chance for all those who have unlegalized capital. There will be no more such amnesty afterwards and subsequently punishment (for unlegalized capital) should be used,” Peskov said.
