GORKI, August 26. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian government sees no major price fluctuations that might be attributed to the ban on the import of certain foods from several countries, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with deputy prime ministers on Tuesday. “In general, we should keep an eye on what is happening to the prices on foodstuffs,” Medvedev said. “There are no colossal fluctuations.”

At the same time, Medvedev acknowledged that “prices may be growing in some places and going down in others by virtue of seasonal factors."

Medvedev has also demanded to prevent price manipulation for imports via Customs Union countries. He Medvedev said the government should take measures to prevent manipulations with food imports into Russia through the territory of the Customs Union member states.

“Of course, various sorts of manipulations and abuses are inadmissible, including food imports through the territory of our Customs Union partners,” Medvedev said at a meeting with vice-premiers.

Medvedev said the government’s measures should prevent re-exports of food products from the countries covered by Russia’s food embargo imposed in response to Western sanctions over Russia’s stance on developments in neighboring Ukraine.

“Our neighbors, partners and friends should not feel offended by us. Our market is always open for bona-fide agricultural producers from Belarus and Kazakhstan, and now a real opportunity has appeared for them to boost their sales in Russia,” the premier said.
