Russian Navy Day mark in St Petersburg, Baltiysk, Vladivostok

ST. PETERSBURG, July 29 (Itar-Tass) — Warships of the Baltic Fleet on Sunday took part in a naval parade held in St. Petersburg on the occasion of Russian Navy Day. Hundreds of residents and guests of St. Petersburg gathered on Admiralty embankment to welcome Russian sailors.

The Navy Day celebrations started with laying flowers to the monument to sailors and founders of the Russian fleet outside the Aurora cruiser. A concert will be organized for sailors in the evening. The festivities will end with fireworks.

About forty surface ships, submarines and auxiliary vessels and almost 4,000 servicemen took part in a parade in Baltiysk. This time there were joined by submariners of the Northern and Black Sea fleets.

Hundreds of ordinary people had a chance to go onboard the warships anchored in the harbor. The festivities will ends with fireworks.

A parade of submarines and warships of the Russian Pacific Fleet was held in the Gulf of Amur, a home to the Fleet’s main base, on Sunday to mark Russian Navy Day. People who watched the parade could trace the history of Russian fleet from first sailing vessels to powerful modern ships.

Another theatrical show was staged at the water sport station of the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Marines, commando units and crews of submarine-hunting ships demonstrated their skills. Spectators also had a chance to see the capabilities of arms and military hardware of the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Artistic groups of the Pacific Fleet and the city of Vladivostok gave a concert to the city residents. King Neptune and his entourage were the traditional guests and participants of the show. A special ship had delivered them to the shore.

The Navy day celebrations in Vladivostok ended with fireworks at around 15:00 Moscow time.
